Solution Strategy or Considerations

This course, originally designed in Lectora, was going to be converted to Storyline as the Training Team was going to standardize on this tool moving forward. 

While conversion isn’t necessarily difficult, finding a way to make the content more interesting and engaging was. I went after a friendlier design, using vector characters to keep the overall tone “light and friendly.”

Learnings

Been quite some time, since I had used Lectora. It’s actually quite a good training design development tool with many similarities with Storyline.

Many of the features and functionality were on par with each other. The main difference lies in the UX/UI where I would give Storyline more points for intuitiveness. 

There were about a dozen or so modules that needed to be converted, and so I was working on about 3-4 at a time, staggering development and review phases. I used Microsoft Planner to communicate progress and status with stakeholders. I also used a shared Excel spreadsheet to keep track of feedback, comments, review, and revision status. 

Use of the shared spreadsheet and Planner, really helped to keep everything organized and on-track.
