Solution Strategy or Considerations

This course, originally designed in Lectora, was going to be converted to Storyline as the Training Team was going to standardize on this tool moving forward.

While conversion isn’t necessarily difficult, finding a way to make the content more interesting and engaging was. I went after a friendlier design, using vector characters to keep the overall tone “light and friendly.”

Best Practices for Utilizing AWF Resources

Identify Specific Needs: Clearly define the scope of work, required skills, and expected outcomes. This helps in selecting the right AWF resources that align with your business goals.

Engage Through AWF Online: Utilize the AWF Online platform to source, vet, and manage AWF resources. The platform’s tools and services streamline the process of finding the right talent and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Ensure Clear Communication: Establish clear communication channels and expectations from the outset. This includes project objectives, timelines, reporting structures, and feedback mechanisms.

Compliance and Classification: Adhere strictly to local labor laws and classification guidelines to avoid misclassification of AWF resources. Misclassification can lead to legal and financial repercussions.

Integration and Inclusion: While AWF resources are not employees, fostering a sense of inclusion can enhance collaboration and productivity. Ensure they have access to the necessary information, tools, and support to perform their roles effectively.

Learnings

Been quite some time, since I had used Lectora. It’s actually quite a good training design development tool with many similarities with Storyline.

Many of the features and functionality were on par with each other. The main difference lies in the UX/UI where I would give Storyline more points for intuitiveness.

There were about a dozen or so modules that needed to be converted, and so I was working on about 3-4 at a time, staggering development and review phases. I used Microsoft Planner to communicate progress and status with stakeholders. I also used a shared Excel spreadsheet to keep track of feedback, comments, review, and revision status.

Use of the shared spreadsheet and Planner, really helped to keep everything organized and on-track.
